Leagrave Youth Work Action Group

The LYWAG team brings together a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm. Below are details of some of the volunteers and organsations that give their time and skills to help us

Event Tech are proud to have been supporting Lywag for a number of years by providing equipment and technicians. As the event has changed and grown over the years they have supplied everything from power distribution to Main Stage PA Systems, along with systems for smaller stages. This yearly event provides an opportunity for Event Tech to help a worthy cause and support the youth of Luton and surrounding areas.

St Luke's is an active community church.

LYWAG began as a church committee in 2003 with the desire to improve youth

activities and relations within the surrounding area of the church. It then

grew into an established local youth charity with St Luke’s as its patron.

 

St Luke’s has a number of church groups for regular worshippers and others alike.

These include Mothers’ Union, Girls’ Friendly Society, Card MakingClub, Scouts, Brownies, Parents and Toddlers and

Thursday lunch group (CAMEO)

Leagrave Scouts join LYWAG at our first Youth Festival in 2005 , hosting our actvitities camp. Since then they have remain an integral part of they event and are now an active part of our planning community

 

Proud members of The Scout Association following its aims to promote the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of each Young Person, helping them achieve their full potential.  They serve the Leagrave catchment area of Luton, although Young People from outside this area are most welcome to join.   They  have a brilliant Beaver Colony (6-8), cracking Cub Pack (8-10 ½) and superb Scout Troop (10 ½ to 14).

Paul Vitty

 

Paul has been LYWAG's Chair since  2009 after serving four years as vice chair.

 

Paul is an actor and criticaly aclaimed director. He is the Artistic Director of production company Venture Wolf. Paul has a vast range of charity and community experience including teaching drama for Mental Health and Young Carers Charities, Managing a learning disability befriending service, writing homeless preventation education programme and creating a volunteering programme for a London Family Support Charity.

Sue Vitty

 

Sue has provided leadership and support to LYWAG since it began as action group in 2003. She has been LYWAG secretary since 2005.

 

Sue has over 30 years experience working with young people. Sue worked as a Drama and Media teacher in a local high school for over ten years.

 

 

Peter Armstrong

 

Peter has served as LYWAG's treasurer for the past ten years Having trained in youth work management he has a wealth of experience including as a Scout Leader

 

 

Keith Guy

 

Keith is a trustee of LYWAG. He teaches music at a local primary school. He also leads Leargave Methodist young club. and a member of  Luton Music Services

 

 

 

 

Yvone Dallas

 

Yvvone brings her expertise in supporting young people access education. She is currently the 14 plus manager at Bridges, Bedford College.

 

Rev Grace Setamu Baverstock

 

Grace has been the parish preist of Leagrave since 2014.

 

 

 

Dean Pursey

 

Dean is St Alban's Diocesan Youth Officer. He has developed a variety of community partenrships across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. He is a passionate advocate for young people and the organisations that support them.

 

 

 

Peter Nosko

 

Peter volunteers to over see the safety at our events. He is highly experienced in event security and has worked at variety of sporting and music venues aswell as high profile events such as The Brits.

Next Generation Youth Theatre

 

NGYT  are dedicated to  providing affordable and inclusive perfoming arts training for those ages 4 to 24.
